Mason Is Doing Fine

kourtney-kardashian-mason-disick-hospital-friday

Friday night Mason ate some peanut butter and had a little allergic reaction to it. He threw up within minutes of tasting it and got hives on his face. I called 911 and the fire department came immediately. They suggested that we take him to the hospital, so we did. He was in good spirits the whole time and didn’t even know anything was wrong. He even enjoyed riding in the ambulance. He’s such a good boy!!

I learned such a lesson with this…to always follow my instincts and call 911. Always better safe than sorry.

The creepy part is…WHO took those pictures and video I’ve seen online from outside our house?

  1. Dear Kim,

Thank G-d the baby is alright. You had a horrible scare. These allergies to peanuts are on the rise. You will have to check ingredients on all baked goods and such prepared products because peanut derivatives are included in most manufactured foods. There are bakeries that make p.eanut-free products Also you may want to discuss with your pediatrician about other possible allergies Mason may have. G-d willing he should have no other problems but children with one food allergy may have others. You also need to see that he does not have any reactions to being in the room with peanut products. Some people have severe forms of the allergy.

It is never easy with children. There is always something to worry about. From watching you on your show, I see that you are a very loving and attentive mother. Mason is lucky to have you. May G-d bless you and your family with continued good health

  2. I am simply adding a comment of support. I too have a child with a severe peanut allergy. There are so many ignorant people out there leaving comments, it saddens me. It seems that unless someone is affected by one of these life threatening allergies or has a loved one with the allergy, they feel that these allergies and the reactions are blown out of proportion. Well, they aren’t. I am hoping that maybe you can help to educate the public now that this is a part of your life and you are watched so closely by so many. Maybe it will become more commonplace and people will empathize with those that suffer from these allergies
Hugs to you and Mason. Knowledge is power, read up, and you will be fine on managing his allergy. My baby girl is now 3.5 and we are doing really well with it all, even with her starting school.
    ~KMN

  3. I love your baby! i think is the cutest baby in the world!

  4. Hi Kourtney, I too am writing in support like the recent caring posts that I’ve read. My 4 year old son has a severe peanut, tree nut and egg allergy that we have lived with since he was 12 months old. I am absolutely appauled on some of the reactions you have received. This is a life threatening issue as well as an emotional toll on children. The negative responders should think about how difficult it is to go out to dinner, partcipate in Halloween and Easter can be or even a birthday party of a classmate. We have managed this serious situation well with constant label reading, carrying an epipen, and changing our eating habits. I agree with the last post..you are such a public person that you could bring awareness to the 3 million children that deal with a peanut allergy each year. Gaining information will help you in your journey with this. FAAN is hands down an excellent organization to look into! I hope more show compassion for your situation and all the other families that deal with this scary and life threatening condition everyday!

  5. I am also supporting your action to call 911. My 15 year old son has a severe peanut allergy. He has to carry an Epi-Pen with him wherever he goes and has been life flighted. It is VERY serious! I agree with the post from Shannon that it is emotional as well on you and your son as he grows. It can be managed but you do need to educate yourself and your whole family. Changing eating habits, reading every label, etc. With your celebrity status I do hope you do bring attention to this as it is a growing health risk. I know country singer Trace Adkins and actress Holly Robinson-Peete have children with peanut allergies.

  6. Soooo glad he is ok. You did exactly what you should have done. Peanut allergy can be fatal. Now, you have to completely educate yourself. Doctors and hospitals do have some information, but your best source is other moms with kids with food allergies. http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org and FAAN plus more. Read their stories and learn from them. Most of the stories have good outcomes, some do not. I have 10 year old twins and we found out about their allergies at age 15 months. They are doing well, but it takes a lot to manage – don’t worry, you’ll get used to it. We read every label. They do not eat if a label is not available. We take our own safe food to parties and social events. We keep an Epi-Pen on us at all times – plus liquid Benadryl. You cannot be too careful when it comes to food allergy. Just like you would never take Mason for a ride in a car without a seatbelt, or on a boat without a life jacket, you should never go anywhere else without an Epi Pen and never eat without reading a label. Good luck to you and Mason!

  7. I’m sorry to hear about Baby Mason! My son is 22 months old and right around 1 years old, he too has an allergic reaction to peanut butter. Hives and itchy eyes. We took him to an allergist and he has a peanut allergy. Good news is, he can grow out of it! My advice, check all labels, especially candy, and avoid eating it yourself, and your family when around Mason. Good luck!! :)

  8. “The creepy part is…WHO took those pictures and video I’ve seen online from outside our house?”

Oh whatever! You and your family are such famewhores I would not be surprised if you called the photographers. Aren’t you embarassed that your family became wellknown because of your sister’s sextape?

  9. I’m glad to know other people also think Kourtney looks like a monkey and her son is hideous. LOL

  10. Good 2 know Uglyson is ok

  11. Kim, There have been many people leaving comments I know you will not wast your time on. You did the right thing. I have a son who has severe allergies to dairy, egg, peanut and all tree nuts. He will have a reaction even if touched. You are very lucky.
Please be sure to see an allergist, educate yourself, and your family. I recommend FAAN as so many have, they are amazing! AND keep the EPI-PEN with you at all times!!!!
I will pray for you & Mason. My hope for you is that he will out grow this. Simple things like going out to a restaurant are extremely dangerous for us.
    God Bless.

  12. okay people. can we all just do one very obvious thing here. stop saying the words P—–B—–. im sure that’s the last food item she wants to hear about right now. If any of you had gotten sick yourself, lets say from eating pizza or something, whatever. Would you like it if the next day people kept talking about pizza around you. No u wouldn’t.

    ; )

  13. Wow i cant believe all the crap people talk today. Kourtney is very pretty and her son Mason looks so damn adorable. Good to hear he is doing ok. And the people outside of her house of course is the pappos…they did NOT become famous because of Kims sex tape, they became successful because of their father who was OJ’s Lawyer, but their fame comes from dep down within. They have done enough SUCCESSFUL things with their lives that helped them become the successful family they are.

~Haters straight Haters..The Kardashians have extreamely strong genes as well…Beautiful Family if I might add.

    • Honestly, just another typical famous for nothing family. I find it sad that t.v has to turn to people like this to fill its empty slots in time, Get a decent job and stop annoying me with your silly uninteresting cheap drizzle on my sky channels, whoever commissions these programs is either sleeping with one of them or should be fired (or both)! I give them til they are 30-35 years old and lost the looks and will just be forgotten about.

  14. I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world and live in different places. I find it interesting that kids from poor countries that don’t have access to much food or money eat whatever they can get their hands on. In the USA every child has an allergy to some food or whatever. If a kid has a rash, they just think it’s the end of the world. I call this SPOILED!

  15. I’m glad Mason is okay. You absolutely did the right thing by calling 911. Two of my kids have food allergies (including peanut) and seeing them have reactions (which are more than just rashes) is pretty frightening.

  16. I’m such a huge fan of yours! I watch every show over and over because it always cheers me up. My boyfriend and i got pregnant over the summer before getting married and i was really having a hard time but i look up to you and it helps me get through the hard times :) I found out i am having a boy and i was wondering if you kept all of Mason’s clothes. Times are tough here and any hand me downs would help. Especially because you have great style! I don’t know if you actually get wind of any of these but please make my dream come true!

  17. Eww that is creepy. Why/how would people take pictures/videos? People are disgusting, that is a total breach of privacy and way over the line..I hate what this world has come to, especially when it involves a child like Mason.

  18. I didn’t know monkey boys were allergic to peanuts. Ug son you’ve got there.

  19. it´s great that ur baby is fine!… he´s a stronger baby… greetings from Medellin-Colombia!…take care kourt, kisses…

  20. PLEASE use your fame to educate others on this epidemic. So many people are ignorant and judgmental…they just don’t understand. Food allergies can be life-threatening and the reaction can progress very quickly. A few minutes is the difference between life and death. The reaction can be much worse the second time. Don’t go anywhere without your epi-pen.

  21. Sad to hear about your son. This is a serious allergy but I’m soo glad you where there to react right away. My son is allergic to soy, nuts, peanuts, egg and a ton of other things. There is nothing I won’t do to protect him. Good luck! Don’t listen to the negative they are only looking for a rise. And he is beautiful!

  22. I love looking at your page everday and reading your blogs! Thank you for careing about your fans we love your family! I wish I could meet you all SOO bad that would be my dream come true. I want to squeeze widdewest pookie baby boy Mason!!

  23. Glad to hear baby Uglyson is ok now

  24. I hate when celebrities with ugly kids try to show them off with portraits. Those are for cute kids, it’s something that you are supposed to look at and find beautiful, don’t ruin a portrait with your ugly child

  25. Honestly, if you negative people don’t like this family, STOP reading their blogs etc. It’s pathetic, coming on here just to leave your negative, hurtful comments.

An allergy to peanuts is a potentially life threatening situation; my 15 month old baby is also allergic to peanuts. How insensitive of you ignorant people to say such mean things, and about an innocent baby. Stop hiding behind your computers and do something useful with your times…how about volunteering at a Children’s Hospital to start.

Kourtney, good luck with Mason, as some others have said just be diligent about reading all food labels. I use these products for my son, has a similar taste and texture like peanut butter (babies/kids can’t tell the difference)

  26. Kourtney, bless your heart. Happy to hear that your little baby is doing good after having the allergic reaction. My four year old son was about Mason’s age when he had his first reaction to peanut butter. We try to educate him as much as possible. However, our biggest challenge has been finding a school that is an allergy friendly school. The public schools where we live all serve peanut butter at least once a week. We were even rejected by all the private Catholic schools in our area. Flying has also been a challenge for our family. Some airlines still serve peanuts in flight. The best advice I have for you and your family is to educate yourselves about Mason’s allergies. You will be so surprised by the uneducated and uncaring people out there. FAAN is a great resource. Also, find a great allergist. Good luck to you and Mason.

  27. @ Rach Stop kissing ass canadian crap

  28. First of all I wanna say that I am so glad that Mason is ok, it could’ve been alot worse. My 3 year old son has many severe food allergies (milk, eggs, soy, wheat, peanuts, treenuts) so i know just how scary it can be. When your child is diagnosed with food allergies it can be very stressfull at first, so try to stay calm and dont worry before long you will be a pro at reading labels. Oh, and just a lil heads up kids who have peanut allergies are more likely to have a soy allergy too.

  29. 1- Good news the baby is doing well and mom knows to be a bit more careful in introducing new foods.

2-Why do people waste their energy and time on making NEGATIVE Comments? Do something worthy for mankind. Go Feed or Clothe the homeless… Donate to a worthy charity of your choice… Assist the eldery.

  30. Sorry your baby had a reaction to peanut butter. Be sure and check out http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org. KFA is a non profit group that offers support, eduction and resources for those dealing with food allergies. KFA offers Support Forums where you can connect (anonymously) with other parents dealing with food allergies.

  31. I’m glad he’s ok I prayed for him :)

  32. Dear Kim: Sorry to hear about your son’s encounter with peanut butter. My wife and I suffered the same thing when our oldest son was very young and ate a peanut butter cookie at a birthday party. We never dreamed peanut butter could prove so deadly. We had to rush him to the hospital to stop him from going into anaphylactic shock. Since then he has had to carry an Epi-pen and antihistamines like Benadryl. The most important thing you have to watch for as your son gets older is the number of foods that contain peanut oil and peanut derivatives. You’d be surprised how many there are, especially Chinese and Thai foods, which we love. They can prove equally as potent and dangerous. Indeed, my son had some Thai noodles recently cooked in peanut oil and he got very sick, even though we specifically told the waiter to inform the kitchen they could not use peanut oil. Also, your son should be educated when he becomes a teenager that even kissing someone who has eaten peanut butter can prove fatal. Find a list of foods that are off limits and memorize them. Should you have any further questions feel free to contact me. Regards,

  33. Sorry meant to say Kourtney.

  34. Ana said:
“they did NOT become famous because of Kims sex tape, they became successful because of their father who was OJ’s Lawyer, but their fame comes from dep down within.”

Ha-ha that is actually not correct. Nobody knew who the Kardashian girls were when the OJ trial was going on, Khloe was 10, Kim was 14 and Kourtney was 15. The girls became famous because Kim was friends with Paris Hilton and released a sex tape. The girls were not “famous” until after the release of Kim’s sex tape. Do some research before you try to justify this famewhore family.

  35. Wow she has one ugly child! He is so weird looking hurts my eyes to look at him. She should of put a bag of his head for that picture.

  36. @ JO i couldn’t agree more, this baby has been ugly since the day he was born

  37. To all the people full of hatred and racism no matter what it concerns i am not only talking about the kardashians, its sad to see how unsatisfied you are in your life and how bad of a failure your every day life must be, i do feel very sorry for those that do choose or are forced to be around by negativity all their lifes they dont know different, must be horrible!

    how does the saying go?

“the Hatred is the cowards revenge of beeing intimidated”

  38. I don’t understand why people are not allowed to have different opinions. Not everyone thinks that the Kardashians are amazing and bla bla bla…Let’s agree to disagree, people. I like the kardashian sisters, I watch all their shows but I have to agree that Mason is not a good looking kid, which is totally fine, why does everything has to be about beauty? That is not the message we should be sending to people. The real beauty is inside and who knows, maybe Mason has an incredible personality and heart. That’s all that matters. What I disagree with though is when people write mean and rude comments, with name calling and stuff. It’s ok if Mason is not good looking but don’t call him monkey please!

  39. My son was 11 months when he had his first small reaction to peanut butter. It was 5 months later that he would have a very severe reaction and we found out he had an off the charts peanut allergy. The 1st reaction is usually mild as their bodies are just being ‘sensitized’ to what ever it is they are allergic to. THe 2nd reaction and others after are usually the most severe. Now that you know, you can be pro active and do everythnig in your power to make sure your beautiful boy is not exposed again. The epi pen is like my right arm. We don’t go anywhere with out it. Take care and prayers that your boy stays safe from any future exposures :)

  40. Hey Kourt,

I’m not sure what the rule is in USA, but here in Australia we are instructed by our Maternal Health Nurse that we should NEVER feed our children any peanut products until the age of 4, unless they have allergy tests prior.

Given peanut products cause the most severe allergic or anaphylactic reactions in children (also eggs), you need to be extremely careful.

PLUS – there is no real nutritional value in greasy peanut butter!!! Sure, you can get freshly ground organic versions, but other nuts (like almonds) are a better choice, but only when the child is old enough.

Lesson learned, at least Mason is alive to enjoy turkey on his first Thanksgiving…

  41. You guys who are negative and have bad things to say or are overdoing it on the peanut butter insults need to chill.

Kourtney, don’t waste your time on listening to these people…..
you and your baby are beautiful and so are your sisters.

  42. I love watching your shows(The Kardashians~Kourtney&Kholoe` takes Miami,Kim & Kourtney in New York) whatever you three are on I LOVE IT.My mom USE to Say”OH The Kardashions ON AGAIN?” LMBO NOW SHE TOO is HOOKED.Love it! And Mason OH SO SWEET I Love watching him grow & I Just wanted to let you know how much “you & your family “ENTERTAIN my FAMILY ~ESPECIALLLY =)Me THANKS SO MUCH & HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM MY FAMILY TO YOURS !God Bless All of You!!<3Debbie

  43. Hey Kourt. I love u. Your hairline is beautiful.it makes me love u more. I watch your tv shows infact i love your family. Your sister klhoe is sweet. I love lookin at your pictures and reading about u. Your son is great. I wish i could have money to buy from the DASH stores. You have a good heart. I Love u. I love u.

  44. hey you guys ,i <3 mason but sorry to say about what happened he is a good boy just by watching anyways i am waiting to watch the episode where you and scott goes to the hospital but i am verry sorry to say about the insident your sisters should be a very big support to you i hope khloe and you could be togethere again you guys looked liked you were the only 2 closess in your family and kim should stop using her blackberyy and loptop she should focuse more with the family but her job is to complicated but she has just to spend more time with mason and just know that some things are more important . anyways byeee!! you guys rock !!! <3 <3 :P :O :D and again sorry about mason.!!

  45. I know how she must’ve felt. My daughter is allergic to all kinds of grass and most ants. She has been rushed to the hospital a couple of times before, with alot of hives all over her body, it was so hard for the Dr. to find a clear spot to give her a shot. Her throat was closing, her tongue was fool of hives, it was VERY scarey. She now carries an EpiPen with her all the time.
As for her sisters, i think they are very supportive when it comes to baby Mason. If it was an emergency, i’m sure there was NO time to call anyone to rush to her. Besides they don’t allow everyone in the room. How much more time should the Aunts spend with Mason. He is not their son, he is a nephew. Besides they would end up like Kourtney, homeless living with someone else. I don’t blame Khloe for not being with her sister like she used to be. Listening to all the crap about her life with Scott and seeing Scott all the time she goes to see Kourtney, i would just stay away too. Kourtney could go visit Khloe at her house, it works both ways.

  46. you people are so weird to be so interested in a celebrities life.. one thing to be entertained, but posting things about allergies with her son ? and opinions ? this is why this society is filled with nonsense, because you people buy into it. stop. you make civilians look like sheep man. I am entertained by kourtney kardashian yes..but shes a person i dont send her baby a kiss from me or tell her how to be a mom..i don’t know him or her. you people are living in a delusional world

  47. Just wanted to comment regarding Mason’s alllergic reaction to peanut butter.
It’s actually not recommended for children 1-years old and younger to consume peanut butter.
There is a bacteria that causes botulism disease which can be found in peanut butter.
    (you can google it)
As adults we have gained enough resident flora “good/bad bacteria” in our system, so we are able to fight it off without any signs of sickness etc.
However, a child under the age of 1, doesn’t have the necessary defense in their system yet….considering they are still young and have not been exposed. Just an FYI….actually learned this in nursing school and just wanted to pass it along. Take care.

  48. omg!! please be carefull that is crazy, i can not stand poperatzie, at a time like that! people are sometimes stupid !! step up your security.. iam glad he is okk
